Advisors

The advisory committee is a group of researchers, physicians, public policy experts, and other professionals who meet with UBC-UAEM annually to provide advice and feedback.

• Barbara Campbell is the former Associate Director of the University-Industry Liaison Office at UBC.
• Dr. Scott Covey is an instructor of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UBC.
• Dr. Brett Finlay is a Professor in the Michael Smith Laboratories, and the Departments of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Microbiology and Immunology at UBC, the Director of the SARS Accelerated Vaccine Initiative, and a member of the Order of BC.
• Dr. Patricia Gabriel is a resident in Family Practice at UBC. She founded UBC-UAEM in 2005.
• Dr. Paul Gross is a Fellow in International Health at UBC and a longtime advocate for Canada’s role in supporting global public health.
• Dr. Bob Hancock is the Director of the Centre for Microbial Diseases and Immunity Research at UBC, and holds a Canada Research Chair in Microbiology/Genomics and Health.
• Dr. John Hepburn is the Vice President of Research at UBC.
• Dr. Robert Hogg is the Director of the Population Health Program at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS.
• Dr. Sidney Katz is a researcher in the UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Executive Director of UBC Community Affairs.
• Dr. Richard Lester is an assistant clinical professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases in the UBC Faculty of Medicine, and Lead Physician in the Division of Sexually Transmitted Infections/HIV Control at the BC Centre for Disease Control.
• Dr. Jennifer Love is an associate professor in the UBC Department of Chemistry.
• Angus Livingstone is the Executive Director of the UBC University-Industry Liaison Office.
• Dr. Steve Morgan is a health economist and the Associate Director of the Centre for Health Services and Policy Research.
• Cailin Morrison is an international trade law consultant and former legal advisor with Médecins Sans Frontières‘ Campaign for Access to Essential Medicines.
• Dr. David Ng is the Director of the Advanced Molecular Biology Laboratory at UBC, and co-leader of the Terry project.
• Dr. Tom Perry is a general internist and clinical pharmacologist, and a professor with the UBC Faculty of Medicine. He was formerly the Minister of Advanced Education, Training and Technology in the BC government.
• Dr. Jerry Spiegel is the Director of the UBC Centre for International Health.
• Dr. Mira Sundara Rajan is a professor in the Faculty of Law, and holds a Canada Research Chair in Intellectual Property Law.
• Benjamin Warren is a PhD candidate in the Global Health Research Program.
• Dr. Kishor Wasan is a professor in the UBC Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
• Dr. Bob Woollard is the Head of the Department of Family Practice in the UBC Faculty of Medicine.
• Dr. Mary Lynn Young is a professor at the UBC graduate School of Journalism and a national business columnist for The Globe and Mail.
